DANCE AUDITION PHOTOS FAQ

Q. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY DANCE AUDITION PHOTO SHOOT?
A. Dress should be clean, presentable and appropriate for the style of dance. Tutus for solos may be worn where appropriate. Items of clothing such as longer skirts, baggy clothing, leg-warmers etc should be avoided if possible as they may give the appearance of attemting to hide or disguise physique, even if not intentional.

My skill as a Professional Dance Photographer and knowledge of asthetics, technique and qualities required for dance will ensure that all photographs taken during your shoot will show you at your very best.

n.b. If you need further information/assistance on correct attire please contact me.

Q. CAN YOU PHOTOSHOP MY LEG TO MAKE IT LOOK HIGHER?
A. No. All editing of Dance Audition Photo Shoot images is strictly limited to skin-retouching, hair tidying and other minor adjustments (i.e. holes in shoes, loose ribbons, and other minor imperfections) Any editing of physical characteristics, such as artificially increasing extensions and other digital manipulations of the image is not permitted.

Q. CAN YOU PHOTOSHOP MY LEG FROM ANOTHER IMAGE AS MY KNEE WASN'T STRAIGHT?
A. No. Composite images (multi-layered images consisting of two or more separate images combined together) are not permitted for any Dance Audition Photographs. Post-editing of images other than re-sizing by anyone other than myself is not permitted and would be breaking Copyright Law, as well as the Terms & Conditions under which the images were taken.

Q. CAN YOU PHOTOSHOP ME TO LOOK THINNER/FATTER/TALLER ETC?
A. No. I consider the use of software to alter the major physical appearance of dancers for Dance Audition Photographs images as deceiptful.

My skill as a Professional Dance Photographer and knowledge of asthetics, technique and qualities required for dance will ensure that all images taken during your photoshoot will show you at your very best. 'Photoshopping' and other editing/re-touching techniques will only be used to clean skin, tidy hair and to correct other minor imperfections.

Q. I HAVE SPOTS ON MY FACE THAT I AM WORRIED WILL RUIN THE IMAGES. WILL YOU EDIT THEM OUT?
A. Yes. Within reason I will remove temporary blemishes, marks and bruises etc so that skin appears clean and healthy. If you are worried about the appearance of skin, teeth, hair or anything else that concerns you, feel free to contact me to discuss.

n.b. All enquiries dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Q. HOW MUCH MAKE-UP SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY DANCE AUDITION PHOTO SHOOT?
A. Make-up should be light, fresh and a natural everyday make-up. Too heavy a foundation or eye make-up is not recommended under studio lighting and is not necessary for Dance Audition Photographs.

Using a 'Cover-Up' to conceal blemishes should be applied sparingly, as extensive use can make the editing/re-touching of blemishes problematic. Contact me if you wish to discuss further.

A. I consider all Dance Audition Photo Shoot galleries as private and therefore do not disclose the access passwords to anyone but the client. Any requests that I do get from teachers, family or friends to view galleries will require full permission from the client before passwords are released. You are free to disclose passwords to teachers, family and friends but if you need the passwords resetting or changing for any reason please contact me immediately.

Q. WHO ELSE WILL KNOW THAT I HAVE HAD AN DANCE AUDITION PHOTO SHOOT WITH YOU?
A. I consider all Photoshoots as private and confidential contracts between the client and myself, and as such will not disclose the identity or any personal details of my clients to anyone.

n.b. All enquiries dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Q. HOW MANY JPG DIGITAL IMAGES AM I ALLOWED?
A. Included in your Dance Audition Photo Shoot are 5 edited high resolution JPG digital images of your choice.

Q. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY JPG DIGITAL IMAGES?
A. That depends on my current workloads, but I try to send all JPG digital images asap and in the order that I was contacted by the clients. I aim to get JPG digital images from Dance Audition Photo Shoots edited and emailed to the client within 3 days of the request.

Q. HOW DO I GET MY JPG DIGITAL IMAGES?
A. Contact me with your full name, your Invoice Reference Number (e.g Ref. 13175) and the full 10-Digit/13-Digit Image Reference Numbers of the JPG digital image(s) that you require (e.g 001_123456_7890) and I will edit and email them back to you. Alternatively I can dispatch them on an Image CD/DVD to an address of your choice.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that any numbers submitted to me are correct to ensure that errors are kept to a minimum.

Q. HOW DO I FIND OUT THE 10-DIGIT/13-DIGIT IMAGE REFERENCE NUMBER OF AN IMAGE?
A. Most modern web browsers, devises and smart phones should display the 10-Digit/13-Digit Image Reference Number at the bottom of the enlarged image, or by hovering a mouse/pointer over the thumbnail image or enlarged image. However if no Image Reference Numbers are displayed or you are unable to find or read them please contact me and I will create a 'workaround' for you.

Q. IF I WANT MORE JPG DIGITAL IMAGES, HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?
A. All extra JPG digital images over and above the 5 high resolution JPG digital images included in your photoshoot are £20.00 each (inc VAT). More information on how to pay can be found here.

Q. CAN YOU PRINT MY DIGITAL IMAGES FOR ME?
A. Yes. More information on Print Prices can be found here.

Q. WHY IS THERE WRITING OVER MY GALLERY IMAGES?
A. Any image displayed online is at potential risk of theft and/or misuse. Watermarks on images are unfortunately necessary to protect both the photographer and client.

Q. I CAN'T SEE THE IMAGE PROPERLY AS THE WATERMARK IS OBSTRUCTING MY FACE. CAN YOU REMOVE IT?
A. Any image displayed online unfortunately requires protection with a Watermark. However I will move/adjust Watermarks accordingly if they are impeding your image selection.

Q. I THOUGHT THAT MORE IMAGES WERE TAKEN AT MY SHOOT? CAN I SEE THEM?
A. No. All images displayed in your gallery are the best images that were taken during your shoot. When creating your gallery I will remove all images that are obvious mistakes, technically poor or exact duplicates which will leave only the strongest images remaining. Even if two images appear the same in your gallery, there is usually a slight but noticeable difference between them.

Q. WHERE SHOULD I KEEP MY JPG DIGITAL IMAGES THAT YOU HAVE SENT ME?
A. Like any important digital files and information, your JPG digital images should ideally be kept in more than one location. To protect yourself against loss I suggest storing your JPG digital images in at least three separate places, for example:

1. On a laptop
2. On an external hard drive
3. On a desktop computer

IMPORTANT: CDs & DVDs are NOT recommended for long term storage due to instability of dyes used within.

Q. CAN YOU HELP ME TO CHANGE THE SIZE OF MY DIGITAL IMAGES?
A. Yes. I will supply you with full-size, high-resolution digital images in JPG format. However, if you need help adjusting the size of your JPG digital images please contact me.

Do remember that whilst JPG digital images will reduce in size extremely well, reversing the procedure and attempting to enlarge a JPG digital image from a reduced one will result in a poor quality image. The JPG image format was created for its ability to reduce the overall size of an image file by throwing away 'unnecessary' information. However once discarded, this information is permanently lost and cannot be retrieved.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you keep the original JPG digital images (or 'Master Files') backed up in at least three different locations. Do not edit or alter these 'Master Files' as any image detail that is lost or damaged cannot be retrieved.

All edits and alterations etc should only be performed on copies of the 'Master files', and not on the 'Master Files' themselves. Setting the 'Master Files' to 'read-only' status will help prevent accidental editing, damage and deletion on most computers.

Q. I HAVE LOST SOME/ALL THE JPG DIGITAL IMAGES THAT YOU SENT ME. DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM AGAIN?
A. No. Once a client has paid for JPG digital images I will replace them free of charge if they are lost, damaged or deleted. All images are safely stored in my image libraries indefinately and can be easily re-sent if necessary.

n.b. If replacement JPG digital images need to be dispatched to you by mail on Image CD/DVD, appropriate postal charges will apply.

Q. WILL YOU HELP ME TO CHOOSE MY DIGITAL IMAGES?
A. Yes. As a former professional dancer for 15 years I will offer you any advice that you require to choose your JPG digital images in the strictest confidence. Occasionally two images may appear identical in your gallery, or you may have difficulty choosing between several images, so my objective viewpoint and the ability to scrutinise the images at full size may be of benefit.
